We know that going au naturale (with your deodorant, that is) can be a little intimidating at first. Let’s just say, your lymph nodes will be relieved to be able to do their important job for your body, sans toxins. And your armpits will thank you for their ability to sweat out toxins. (Our bodies kinda need to be able to do that!)
Whether you’re in need of a deodorant for sensitive skin or you’re looking for the best natural deodorant, here are some tips from our awesome Instagram followers to help make the switch to Earth Mama’s clean deodorant a whole lot easier.
Tips for Switching to Natural Deodorant
1. Making the switch to natural deodorant during the fall or winter can help you adjust a little more easily since you won’t have the hot summer temperatures to contend with. Keep in mind, natural deodorant is not an antiperspirant, so you will be sweating. However, many people notice that after a month or so using natural deodorant, they actually sweat less.
2. You may be used to applying your deodorant or anti-perspirant once, perhaps after a bath or shower, but with natural deodorant, you may need to apply it several times for you to feel fresh at first. This may not continue after your body gets used to the switch, but until then, feel free to apply frequently.
3. Since clean deodorants can contain natural oils, it can be helpful to apply your deodorant and let it settle before you put clothes on. It’s just a small adjustment, but one to remember if you like to put your deodorant on after you get dressed.
4. It’s true that you will most likely notice that your body is sweating, which we promise is a really good thing. One way to adjust is to wear liners in your shirts or switch to looser clothing for a while. We’ve found that after your body sweats out the toxins, you actually start to sweat less and you won’t notice your body “scent” as much.
Take it from these mamas! With a little bit of patience and some reapplication, you’ll be choosing a natural deodorant for yourself!
